October 30, 2012

            On Monday, October 29^th, 2012 a prisoner was being transported through Lawrence by a private security company.  At approximately 5:30pm the transport vehicle stopped in the area of 23^rd and Louisiana to check on one of the prisoners.  One prisoner then ran from the vehicle, heading southeast.  Officers from the Lawrence Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, along with a canine unit from the Kansas Highway Patrol searched the area for several hours.  A possible sighting of the suspect occurred later in the evening near 15^th and Haskell Avenue which prompted officers to canvas that area as well.  The suspect was not located and remains at large.
