Lawrence High SRO Mike Cobb
My name is Mike Cobb and I was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas. I attended Lawrence Free State High School and graduated in 2002. I played football all through high school and attended Baker University on a football scholarship. As a student athlete, I finished my college career with a degree in Sociology and a minor in English. I am still enrolled at Baker and am working to achieve my Masters Degree in Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution.
I joined the Lawrence Police Department in 2006 and have mostly worked evening and midnight shifts. The last two years I worked as a field training officer (FTO) and helped to train many of our new officers on the department.
I was given the opportunity in 2008 and 2009 to coach 7th grade football at Southwest Junior High through the police department’s 7th grade football program. During my time at SWJH, I enjoyed meeting and coaching many great people and student athletes. Because of that positive interaction at SWJH, I thought I could work as a School Resource Officer (SRO) and make a difference with the students in the schools.
I recently became an SRO and look forward to working at Lawrence High School over the next four years. I am committed to serving the Lawrence High School community and being a positive role model for Lawrence students.
Sincerely,
Mike Cobb
