About 48 Hours of Calls

The information on the 48 Hours page is for Lawrence Police Department calls only. The Douglas County Emergency Communication Center dispatches for all response agencies in Douglas County, but the calls listed on the 48 Hours page are only LKPD calls.

Return to the 48 Hours of Calls page.

The columns that are listed for each call are:

  1. StartDate - The date and time that the call started.
  2. EndDate - The date and time that the call ended.
  3. Call # - The unique number assigned by the Computer Aided Dispatch System for this call.
  4. Source - Calls come from many sources, but a special designation is given for those that are 911 calls and SI, Self Initiated. SI calls are generated by the officer in the field when they observe something they wish to investigate.
  5. Final Classification - Calls are classified by the dispatcher based on their conversation with the reporting party. They use a shorthand abbreviation to efficiently enter the calls, but the shorthand may be unfamiliar to those not in law enforcement. There is a table used to convert the shorthand to something that is more readable in CAD. That table is listed below this explanation. The Final Classification is listed first and has been converted using the table. If it was originally entered as something else and changed by the dispatcher as the call unfolded that change is appended to the final classification, but was not expanded due to space limitations.
  6. Location by Block - The addresses entered into CAD may be very specific or identify a general area. The addresses here have been localized to the block of the street of the call.
  7. # of Units Assigned - The number of units assigned to a call varies based on the type of call and the number of officers needed.
  8. Report Numbers Issued - If the officer determines that a report needs to be filed they will request a number be issued. The number issued is composed of the CAD Department number (LKPD is 02), the year (2011 would be 11) and a sequentially issued number. Criminal reports receive a number starting with 1 starting the first day of the year. Accident reports begin at 70000 starting the first day of the year.
